I practice TKD and spar three to four days a week and am over 40. Part of my tournament training includes about a half hour of kicking on the heavy bag at least three sessions per week. The combination of the heavy bag, leg checks and of course elbows had left my feet and shins bruised and swollen to the point that I was kicking with less intensity and frequency. I have been working out with the Hayabusa Pro Striking Shin Guards for about three months and do not have a single complaint. Getting comfortable with the massive instep coverage to the tip of the toe was a bit of transition but now I find the instep a luxury. The fit and durability is phenomenal. Even after the break in period, I absolutely have no issues with shifting and the legs show no signs of deterioration. My calf is a meaty 18” with an 11 ½” shin and ankle at 11” with a 9 ½” foot. My legs look like they belong on an elephant and a Size Large accommodated them without issue. Normally, I start seeing a breakdown in legs and insteps at the three month point and after a year they get tossed. So far these look like these will break that trend. Pain during training is weakness leaving the body it’s been nice not to take that weakness to work with me for the last few months.
